Megapixels How much do I actually need?

IT is a common myth that you need a ton of megapixels to get high quality photos. Some cameras Companies mislead the public about this information and in fact to many mega pixels on a low quality sensor can actually give you a poor quality photo rather than a high quality photo. If you’re just starting out, you really should consult with a camera shop or a professional before you buy a camera. 10 megapixels is all you need with a lower end sensor such as a bridge camera or a point click camera even some lower end DSLR’s.

Try it before you buy it

Sigma has a try before you buy program and many store do as well. If you want to buy a digital camera the proper way this is the best way. Store Clerks can’t read your mind. You know what you want and what works. You can take random pictures and compare the quality against other cameras that way you are getting the best camera for your money. Save the buyer’s remorse for another day.

Not every memory card is created equal

Believe it or not memory cards are rated based on speed 10 being the fastest. You do want to get the memory cards rated a 10 because you don’t want to miss that perfect photography moment.

Lighting is everything

whether it be artificial or natural photography lighting can make or break a photo. Always Shoot in Raw

Do you actually shoot in jpg format? That’s no Bueno. When shooting in jpg format your image files are compressed so you lose more quality than if you would have shot in raw format. Your Photos will come out brighter with better detail and are a lot easier to fix.
