10 Things I Wish Photoshop Could Do
10 Things I Wish Photoshop Could Do
I use Photoshop every day. Therefore, I’m always trying to find ways to be more productive. So in the process of using Photoshop every day I have come across at least 10 things that I wish Photoshop could do. Or maybe Photoshop already does them. I so comment below and suggest a work around or anything I may have overlooked.
A WAY TO ORGANIZE PHOTOSHOP BRUSHES
at this moment there is not a way to organize Photoshop brushes, unless you group them and save them out as a new brush set. I’ve done that, it took me days. I’m just screaming in my head Adobe there has got to be a better way!
A FONT MANAGER INSIDE PHOTOSHOP
The font viewer, if you want to call it that absolutely sucks in Photoshop. As a Graphic Designer, or even when I’m doing web design. I need my fonts organized in a manner that makes sense. For example, “all of my script fonts in a folder titled “script”. I’d also like a way to view the fonts larger in the type panel.
ACTIONS NEEDS DEMO PICTURES
I don’t know about you but I have a really hard time with actions. As a Graphic Designer and being a highly visual person I need a picture or an example of the action, so I can see exactly what type of action we are applying to the photo. Like the filters do in Photoshop there is an example picture of what each filter does.
THE PEN TOOL SHOULD WORK EXACTLY LIKE ILLUSTRATORS DOES
I Learned to use the pen tool in Illustrator first, and I got really good at it. Unfortunately, the pen tool in Photoshop doesn’t work the same as Illustrator’s pen tool. I have never been able to master the pen tool in Photoshop, because I can never remember the non-illustrator way to use Photoshop’s pen tool. I absolutely hate it.
PHOTOSHOP NEEDS BETTER PHOTOGRAPHY TOOLS
I use Photoshop for photos. Obviously hence the name “Photoshop” should be exactly what it’s named a shop for photos. But it’s not. I really wish that Photoshop had a way to make better and more professional contact sheets. Also a Custom set of copyright watermarks. Why should we have to learn light room? I don’t know about you but I still am learning Photoshop every day.
BETTER TOOLS TO EXTRACT OBJECTS FROM BACKGROUNDS
I have used refine edge tool and have had mixed results. Some good and some bad. I find that masking everything takes way to long and is still not accurate. I’d love an auto extract tool.
I WISH BRIDGE & PHOTOSHOP WERE ONE PROGRAM
Yes I know Photoshop cs6 has mini bridge but that’s not the same thing. I don’t understand why bridge has to be the middle man. Why can’t adobe just do away with bridge and build the functionalities that bridge has into Photoshop. I completely understand that it assists creates a bridge to other adobe programs. I just keep wandering why do I need bridge when I have light room 5? I seriously think that adobe has a lot of redundancy and with all that I have to learn and do I don’t need a useless program taking up space.
I WISH I COULD WATCH VIDEO TUTORIALS INSIDE PHOTOSHOP
With the industry changing so much so fast it is crucial to have design video tutorials. I watch a lot of graphic design and web design video tutorials, probably 20 or more a day. With that being said I could’ve used an internal video application where I could see the tutorial as I was working in Photoshop. Instead of pausing the video and going back and forth. It be nice to see Adobe TV inside the program to. Not all of us who are starting out has the cash to splurge on two monitors.
SLICE PSD TO HTML 5 AND WORDPRESS THEME
I’m not going to lie, I’m horrible at code. I don’t really enjoy coding at all. Not as much as I love design. So Adobe for Christmas can you please add a button that automatically converts .PSD to html 5 and has a word press themer that actually works and produces valid clean code.
BETTER TYPOGRAPHY TOOLS
I know that I should use illustrator for typography, but sometimes I get lazy and want to create full page print layouts in Photoshop without having to go back to illustrator. I am often limited in what I can do in Photoshop. I especially loath the paragraph tool, and the inability to make text on a perfect curve. Yes, that bothers me.
